Advanced Biological Marketing (ABM) is pleased to announce the groundbreaking for its new R&D facility at 294 Gambee Road in Geneva. The R&D facility will occupy the office portions of the former International Paper Building. The groundbreaking will be for the construction of new greenhouse space for the operation. Renovation, construction and equipping the facility is expected to exceed $1 million and it will initially be staffed by 6 persons, and three of them hold the degree of PhD. Staffing is expected to increase over the next few years to more than 10 persons. It also incorporates the services of research consultants and cooperators from around the world.
ABM® has been associated with Geneva since its inception in 2000. Most of its technologies have been developed by Dr. Gary Harman while he was a Professor at the NY State Agricultural Experiment Station and ABM® has funded and benefited from his research since its start including collaborations leveraging Center for Advanced Technology (CAT) funding. Since about 2009, the Company has also occupied laboratory facilities at the Cornell University Agriculture and Food Technology Center. The Company’s offices and production facilities are in Van Wert, OH and is headed by Daniel Custis, its CEO.
In November, 2012, Dr. Harman retired from Cornell after more than 40 years of service and, two weeks later began his encore career as ABM’s® Chief Science Officer. He will direct the Geneva laboratory, which is expected to be a state-of-the-art biological R&D facility. However, activities are not expected to involve creation of transgenic life forms. The laboratory will be devoted to the development of organic solutions to feeding a hungry world, including organic and nontoxic pest control products.
ABM’s® current product offerings are sold around the world. They currently are primarily biological seed treatments. There are a range of products that contain different beneficial organisms that increase plant growth and reliably improve crop yields. Pictures showing the effects of the products developed by Dr. Harman and licensed from Cornell by ABM® are shown in the pictures that follow this press release. Farmers enjoy an 8 to 12:1 return on investment by the use of products such as SabrEx®. The products are sold in the US, primarily initially in the Corn Belt and SE, and in about a dozen countries ranging from the Ukraine to South Africa to the Philippines. The Company’s has increased sales substantially and is highly profitable.
